We were lucky enough to live out our 'Great British Bake Off' dream by heading down to The Big London Bake in Tooting on Tuesday (20.11.18), all in the name of Steps star Claire Richards' forthcoming debut solo LP, 'My Wildest Dreams'.
The 41-year-old singer - who often takes to Instagram to share her cooking triumphs - was in her element as she assisted us and the other "contestants" in creating a four-layered genoise sponge, which believe you and me is so much more challenging when you are under the pressure of a timer.
Claire, however, made the experience fun and relaxed, reassuring us after we forgot to put the sugar in the mixer, by sharing that she'd witnessed "worse" cake catastrophes in the tent in an earlier session.
Whilst our cakes baked away in the oven, Claire treated us to a stripped back performance of four songs from the album, including the catchy single 'On My Own' and the angelic 'These Wings', which she said is her "favourite".
Watch: 'On My Own':
Then the cakes were judged with Paul Hollywood-style feedback - only kidding, Claire was actually very polite about our overly sweet elderflower and rose water flavours - and afterwards we had a chance to get a picture with Claire and our cake, before boxing it up to take home.
The 'Chain Reaction' hitmaker told us having the backing of major label Sony Music to release her debut LP is a dream come true.
She said: "It's amazing.
"I thought that if we did ever manage to do it, we would do it like we did the Steps thing and do it independently - but to have the support of a major record company is just incredible and I'm really excited."
'My Wildest Dreams' is released on February 1, 2019. Pre-order the album here.
