Do we require more from metal bands?

While She Sleeps wowed with a career-defining show at London's Roundhouse in Camden last Friday (01.03.19) as they performed songs from their new LP 'SO WHAT?', as well as fan-favourites like 'You Are We', backed by the unreal Choir Noir.

The epic show was phenomenal and it begs to question should we expect every metal act to push the boundaries even more when it comes to live shows?

We saw fellow Sheffield rockers Bring Me The Horizon backed by an orchestra at their Teenage Cancer Trust show at London's Royal Albert Hall in 2016, and they proved that the possibilities are endless when it comes to fusing heavier music with group singers and instruments that are on another end of the scale.

WSS' songs were given a whole new dimension with the haunting, choral vocals and provided the audience with an almost-filmic experience.

Now when we go back to seeing our favourite metal acts, or anyone else perform for that matter, will our expectations be raised even higher? It's an interesting debate.

What would you like to see bands in the metal community doing with their live shows in the future?
