Duchess' powerhouse vocal takes centre stage on stripped-back rendition of Close

If you haven't heard of London-based singer/songwriter Duchess, then this ought to put her on your radar.

The pop artist is back with an effortless stripped-back rendition of her recent single 'Close' that sees her powerhouse vocal take centre stage.

The alternative version was recorded and engineered remotely between the US and London with producer and co-writer Patch Boshell, various musicians and engineers, in what Duchess describes as "a colossal amount of collective talent".

She says: "Putting this together in the midst of a global pandemic was never going to be the easiest task; but fortunately we were able to work with some incredible musicians from across the pond which has significantly added to the emotion of the finished product. This project has been particularly special for me as we have not only managed to construct everything remotely, but the end-result is a colossal amount of collective talent.”

Duchess has released a slew of singles to date, 'Close' follows 'Breathe', which she created to help raise awareness for domestic violence cases.

Music is not just an art form for Duchess, it's a lifeline.

She explains: “For me dance, poetry and music saved me - I 'm so thankful for the passion I discovered when I needed it most to heal and learn to love myself again.”
