Introducing Beattie: Bedford's new popstar-in-waiting

The market town of Bedford in East England isn't exactly a hotspot for musicians, we can think of a handful of acts from there, including rockers Don Broco and chart star Tom Grennan - but now there's a new name to add to the list, Beattie.

The alt/pop singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and producer might just be starting out, but if her first tracks are anything to go by, Bedford has a new popstar-in-waiting.

Today, the London-based artist has shared her sublime new single, 'Treat Me Right', a hook-tastic pop banger produced by Bhav - whose credits include Noah Cyrus and James Arthur - that could have easily been an instant hit for Dua Lipa.

Speaking of the raw lyrical content, the heart-on-your-sleeve singer said of the soaring pop song: “I wrote 'Treat Me Right' when I was in a state of confusion, and undertaken with the frustrations of trying to navigate through someone’s mixed signals, and empty promises. The song insinuates a realisation that maybe this person isn’t who I thought they could be, although I do have a tendency to fantasise and idealise. The hook offers an ultimatum in a way - tell me how you feel or leave me alone!”

The latest single follows the release of the equally as brilliant, 'Lucky', which was written, produced and performed entirely by Beattie herself.

Taking influences from the likes of Lana Del Rey and BANKS, music has been an expressive outlet for the 22-year-old rising star from a young age, starting out covering songs on GarageBand before penning her own music.

Beattie is also eager to get out on stage, so keep your eyes peeled for gig news in the not-so-distant future...

'Treat Me Right' is available to stream and download now on all major streaming services.
