An explosion of thoughts springboard off rumbling rock riffs and hip-hop beats, is how best to describe alt-rapper K.Flay's latest EP, 'Inside Voices'.
It's pedal to the medal from the off, with the Grammy-nominated star getting everything off her chest in a helter-skelter fashion.
K.Flay explains: “So often we keep everything bottled up.
“Inside Voices was a way for me to exorcise some demons and safely express these uncomfortable but very human emotions I was feeling.”
Tom Morello-featuring 'TGIF' is a politically-charged ode to Rage Against The Machine, exerting anger towards Donald Trump.
K.Flay spits: "The world is run by lunatics, so who gives a f***?
Let's light it up, let's make a mess, let's coalesce, let's make a fuss
The world is filled with psychopaths, so I wanna drink
I wanna fight, I wanna rage against the f***ing machine."
We've lost count of the amount of collabs Travis Barker has had in the past year - from Kenny Hoopla and Machine Gun Kelly to Willow Smith and Run The Jewels.
But 'Dating My Dad', which K.Flay hailed "impish in the best way", is a freakish and hilarious flex with drum sounds that aren't instantly recognisable as the Blink-182 sticksman.
All in jest, of course, K.Flay quips: "Mom and dad, we love 'em
"Either f*** 'em or become 'em."
"I'll do it my way/Till the day that I die", K.Flay says on 'TGIF', and that mentality runs through every track.
